12 PM Abbey Sharp is a Registered Dietitian (RD), food writer and blogger, author, TV and radio personality, new mom, and the founder of Abbey’s Kitchen Inc. Abbey’s core philosophy is that a pleasurable relationship with food, your body and your self is the fundamental secret to good health. She has infused this outlook into Abbey’s Kitchen Inc., a multi-faceted food, nutrition and motherhood media brand and consulting company developed with the goal of celebrating the pleasurable eating experience. From delicious healthy recipes, digital video content, real mom truths and cheeky nutrition myth busting, the Abbey’s Kitchen blog and Youtube channel have become popular spaces for garnering buzz about nourishing food. In 2019, Abbey released her debut cookbook, The Mindful Glow Cookbook, published by Penguin Random House which went on to win Gold at the Taste Canada Awards. Most recently, she launched the Millennial Mom’s Guide for Mindful Meal Planning, a Facebook community with over 600 users for inspiring healthy meal planning ideas for their family. Abbey has 10 years of experience working as a celebrity Spokesperson for dozens of popular food, health, mom and lifestyle brands such as General Mills, Quaker, Pampers, Jamieson Vitamins, T-Fal and Starbucks – to name only a few. She has regular editorial columns in Best Health Magazine, Healthline, Self and Eating Well Magazine, among countless other print and online publications. Abbey is an expert regular on Canada’s number one lifestyle program, The Marilyn Denis Show and has created an international presence with her appearance on Dr. Oz.
11 AM Jay started his career in the food service industry 30 years ago in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. After, venturing off to Alberta to attend College in Medicine Hat and Red Deer, then finished off his post-secondary degree at the University of Lethbridge. While completing his degree in the arts, Jay continued to work in the food service industry he was drawn into with his passion. His career took an amazing shift towards Sysco, where over the past 16 years, he’s consulted with thousands of restaurants across Canada, from independent operators to corporate chains. Today, Jay enjoys leading Canada’s Largest Foodservice consulting team for Sysco Canada that consists of 16 Culinary Centers in all major cities, 80 Corporate chefs, Consultants, Marketing Managers and Specialists.
9 AM Ken has been in the Seafood industry for over 30 years in a variety of operational roles including wholesale, retail and running his own retail seafood market. Throughout this time, he has seen the industry change in a number of ways with today’s need for tractability becoming the most important. The MSC opportunity has allowed him to help educate the industry, and consumers, about the importance of transparency and tractability throughout the supply chain and help provide credibility for businesses.
